More than 125 million U.S. adults and children suffer from poor access to dental care. Here’s what we’re doing about it.
In big and small ways, we’re doing our part to bring quality dental care to those in need and improve the communities where we live and work.
Millions of dollars in free care
From cleanings and fillings to x-rays and sealants, we worked with our dentist partners to provide $2 million in free dental services to 10,000 disadvantaged adults and children nationwide last year.
Scholarships for education
A big part of providing quality dental care is having qualified staff in dental offices. So we award scholarships each year to help women and minority students pay for dental school tuition and fees.
In 2011, we awarded 18 scholarships worth $33,000 to encourage these students to not only pursue a career in the dental profession, but to use their education to help those who can’t afford dental care.
The power of employee giving
More than 460 United Concordia employees contributed over $97,000 to the United Way in 2011. We matched their contributions dollar-for-dollar and presented more than $194,000 to this community organization.
