Dawn Coleman was a healthy 32-year-old when she found a small lump during a self-exam that led to her breast cancer diagnosis. A United Concordia Dental employee, Dawn was aware of the oral-systemic connection and regularly practiced good oral hygiene. Still, as a result of her treatment, she experienced several oral health issues for the first time in her life. Some of these issues could have been prevented with the proper information, including mouth care tips to follow before, during and after treatment.
In an effort to raise awareness and help others going through cancer treatment, Dawn is sharing her personal experience with breast cancer and how treatment affected her oral health.
