Lost a Tooth? Stay Calm...

How to minimize the damage and save your smile

No one wants a missing tooth. Not only does it affect how you look, but that gaping hole in your mouth could expose you to infections and other problems. Luckily, there are steps you can take to help you keep your tooth, smile and good health.

How to care for a lost tooth:

  1. Retrieve the tooth if possible, and hold it by the top, not the root.
  2. Rinse the root of the tooth with water. Do NOT scrub it or remove attached tissue.
  3. If possible, place the tooth back in the socket. If not, place the tooth in a container of milk or water.
  4. Immediately see your dentist.

Note: The longer your tooth is out of the socket, the less of a chance there is that you can save it.
