Sun Life Financial Dental Plans Overview

As a reminder, in 2011 United Concordia began handling claims administration and customer service for Sun Life dental products using the Alliance network. The following Sun Life Dental Plan guidelines have been established to help ease your office administration and increase patient satisfaction.

Identification Cards

All Sun Life members in the United Concordia Alliance network are issued identification cards that feature the United Concordia logo, a Dental Plan ID that begins with the letter “C” and applicable dental plan information. An example of the new identification card is pictured.

Please encourage your patients with Sun Life dental plans to show their current Identification card at their next office visit to verify if it reflects the United Concordia logo and corresponding Dental Plan ID. For Sun Life members with dental plans administered by United Concordia, patient information such as benefits, enrollment, claim status, allowance information, maximums, deductibles and procedure history, is available online through My Patients’ Benefits.


Note: If the United Concordia logo is not present on the identification card, please use the claim and customer service contact information provided on the back side of the identification card.

Claim Processing

United Concordia’s standard PPO policies, procedures and Maximum Allowable Charge (MAC) schedules will apply to Sun Life members covered under United Concordia’s Alliance network.
Submit claims electronically by using Speed eClaim®, our free, claims-processing system that offers instant claims editing and resubmission and real-time explanations of benefits. Speed eClaim® can be accessed through the Dentists portal. You may also submit electronic claims through your clearinghouse or vendor under the United Concordia Payor ID. If you have any questions, you may contact your clearinghouse or vendor directly, or our Dental Electronic Services department at (800) 633-5430 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
