Visiting a Dentist
Find a dentist that makes you smile
Just like finding the right doctor, picking a dentist can be a little tricky. Do they participate in your network? Do they provide specialty care? Are they bilingual? With our iDental plans, those questions are easily answered. Read on to learn more.
If you have any questions, give us a call toll-free at 1-866-568-6099, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
What are the benefits of a network dentist?
Although your iDental plan allows you to use any licensed dentist, a network dentist will:
- Save you money: Network dentists accept a negotiated amount as payment in full for covered services, and they can’t charge you for anything above that amount. This reduces your out-of-pocket expense, because non-network dentists can bill you for the difference between our negotiated fees and their standard prices.
- Save you time: Network dentists automatically file your claims with us, so it’s one less thing for you to do.
- Provide peace of mind: Our network dentists undergo a rigorous review, including a thorough quality-assurance process and routine verification of their credentials.
- Give you freedom: Neither you nor your family members are tied to one dentist. We have over 179,000 access points in our Advantage Plus network, so all family members can choose a dentist they like.*

Will I need a referral from my dentist to visit a specialist?
No. But it’s always a good idea to discuss treatment options with your dentist before consulting a specialist. Also, be sure to request a predetermination before receiving treatment estimated to be above $500 to figure out what you’ll be responsible to pay.
May I still see my current dentist if she/he isn’t part of network?
Yes. But the amount you’re responsible to pay may be higher. Also, you won’t be eligible for possible discounts for non-covered services and services exceeding your annual maximum. Delaware residents: please visit this page for more information
Can members of the same family choose different dentists?
