The Pregnancy Benefit

Improved Dental Insurance Coverage During Pregnancy

At United Concordia Dental, we recognize the impact your oral health can have on the overall health of both you and your baby. This is why most of our plans provide improved dental insurance coverage during pregnancy.

If your plan includes the Pregnancy Benefit, you can receive one additional covered dental cleaning during pregnancy. You’ll also have more coverage on services to help manage all stages of gum disease during pregnancy, including:

  • Gingivitis – A mild form of gum disease more likely to occur during pregnancy*
  • Periodontitis – A serious condition linked to both prematurity and low birth weight babies*

Confirm and Activate Your Coverage:

To receive this enhanced coverage while pregnant, you (or anyone on your dental plan) must report the pregnancy online via My Dental Benefits.

  1. Log in to your My Dental Benefits.
  2. Click the Wellness tab at the top menu. (You will see this tab only if your employer chose to include the Pregnancy Benefit as part of your plan.)
  3. Click + Add a new condition.
  4. Select Pregnancy and complete the fields as prompted.
  5. Your pregnancy status will show as ACTIVE to confirm your activation.

If you don’t already have a My Dental Benefits account, you can create one using the Member ID number listed on your United Concordia card. If you don't have this information or need help registering, contact customer service and a representative can help you through the process.

Take Advantage of Your Benefits:

Once registered, talk to your dentist about your pregnancy and your additional coverage through United Concordia. You may or may not need the services covered by the Pregnancy Benefit, but your dentist can recommend which (if any) additional procedures can help the condition of your mouth.
